Srinagar, Apr 05 (KNS): Amid protests in Tral and Palhallan areas in south and north Kashmir, normal life resumed after four days of continuous shutdown. Reports emanating from North and South Kashmir said stone-pelting protests triggered shutdown in Tral area of Pulwama and Palhallan in Baramulla district.
Authorities had already ordered opening of educational institutions in Kashmir except Shopian district and few other areas where they apprehended protests.
Train service resumed on Thursday after remaining suspended where Joint resistance Leadership(JRL) had called the two-day strike from Monday followed by “Shopian Chalo” to express solidarity with the families of those killed on Sunday.
Public transport and private vehicles also plied after three day hiatus. Commercial establishments and offices also opened.
However, Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district remained tense where a youth was killed on Tuesday. Public transport also remained off the roads in the area, while private vehicles were seen plying normally.
In Tral town of Pulwama district, youth pelted the forces’ vehicles with stones at Bus stand and Aabghar Chowk, triggering a shutdown.
Shopkeepers lowered their shutters while traffic disappeared from the roads.
In Palhallan area of Pattan in Baramulla district, youth took to streets and staged protests. Shopkeepers, here too, downed their shutters after stone-pelting protests. (KNS)
