Srinagar, March 25: A Militant who was killed in Budgam village in an overnight encounter identified as Shafat Hussain Wani son of Late Mohammad Akbar Wani, a resident of Wagoora, Kreeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Shafat, a BA, BED Student was active since one year, he was running a Kiryaan Shop in his native village before he joined militancy ranks, Shafat as per his family was in his 30’s and was working as a teacher in a private educational institute before joining militant ranks.
Locals reports said that people in large numbers started visiting towards slain militant’s home, amid pro-freedom sloganeering in the area.
Police have deployed its men as well as para-military CRPF in the Wagoora as a precautionary measure to maintain “law and order problem”.
Meanwhile, authorities suspended internet services in parts of Baramulla soon after news of Shafat’s killing spread.
SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh said that police was waiting for family and would hand over the body once they confirm completely.
Police sources said that the militant is believed to be associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit and presently his post-mortem is being carried out at police hospital Srinagar.
The militant was killed in a brief pre-dawn encounter at Arizal area of Beerwah in Budgam district. A girl Humaira daughter of Mohammad Maqbool Khan was also injured in the gunfight. (GNS
