A complete shutdown is being observed across the entire region of south Kashmir for third consecutive day over civilian killings in Khudwani area of district Kulgam, couple of days ago.

In view of post Friday prayer protests, the authorities have in strength deployed police and paramilitary forces at vital points.Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for protests across Kashmir valley after Friday prayers against the civilian killings.The mobile internet also remains barred in the entire south Kashmir while train services also have been stopped from Srinagar to Banihal since last three days now.Government forces killed four civilians during clashes at the gunfight site at Wani Mohalla in Khudwani area of district Kulgam.The deceased were identified as:
  • Sharjeel Ahmad Sheikh, (28), son of Hamid Sheikh of Khudwani
  • Bilal Ahmad Tantray (16)
  • Faisal Illahi (14) of Melhoora Shopian
  • Aijaz Ahmad Palla of Bijbehara
One army man was also killed during the gunfight and has been identified as Sada Gunakara Rao belonging to 1 RR.During clashes 60 people sustained bullet and pellet injuries.Two militants managed to escape the gunfight site with the help of locals.After being rescued, the militants roamed in the Khudwani area and clicked selfies with the locals and performed stunts on a bikes with thousands chanting pro-militant slogans.
